Tammy Blossom

Tammy is the Board President of Smart Girl Society and has been a partner with Amie since the incorporation of the nonprofit organization in 2016.  Tammy brings more than 30 years of experience in non-profit executive management and public policy development from her work in Kansas City, New York, Washington, DC and Philadelphia.  She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas and earned a Master’s in Business Administration and a Master’s in Public Administration from Columbia University in New York City.  Throughout her career, she has worked with various public policy initiatives and lead the charge to write the legislation to create The Points of Light Foundation under the Bush Administration, The AmeriCorp Program under the Clinton Administration and the national and state-wide education initiatives to create the No Child Left Behind Act.  She has worked on education policy and as a speech writer for the George W. Bush Administration and the Clinton Administration.  She was the lead national consultant working with General Collin Powell to create the America’s Promise bringing all 50 states together around children’s initiatives.  In her role as CEO of The Learning Exchange in Kansas City, Missouri, she is a national expert on school choice and has led efforts nationally to write charter school legislation in 10 states and in Missouri led the charge to open 12 public Charter Schools.  She also served as the lead consultant to the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit to write the curriculum for the Rosa Parks Bus Exhibit.  She made Omaha her home in 2005 and now continues her work as a volunteer in the community to support nonprofits locally and nationally that work on education policy and preparing young people for a rapidly changing world. Locally, she had led various capital campaigns raising more than $25 million to build schools, churches and support the Archdiocese of Omaha Catholic Schools over the past 10 years.  She currently serves on many nonprofit boards and  enjoys consulting with nonprofit executives to launch sustainable organizations and offers services on fundraising, executive coaching, public policy development and lobbying.
